What is floorball?

Floorball is invasion teamsport and it is played between two teams. Invasion games like football, icehockey or fieldhockey are games where you try get in the zone of opponent and try make a goal. When gametime is over team who have most goals is the winner. Player uses sticks and the ball is plastic. Other equipments are indoor shoes and protection glasses for players. Playing field has rink so game is played inside the rink. Floorball season lasts normally from August to April, so in the darkest and coldest time in Finland floorball is nice, clean and warm option to be active.

The club

Steelers is floorball club in Hämeenlinna. We are Kanta-Häme regions biggest and ongoing floorball club. We have over 400 members in our club. We have activities in hobby and teamside. In our hobbygroups people of different age are gathering together once a week and they mostly play together. On teamside our mens team plays in third highest league in Finland and juniorteams are playing regional series or nationwide series depending on players age groups and level of gaming. Every august we try to start new team for seven year old players.

Possibilities

Small children can start floorball and moving activities in our "Perhesäbä" ( Familyfloorball). There child between 3-6 years old and parent can have fun and start hobbying together. Learning to move in safe enviroment. These practises are on Saturdays in Uimahalli. After or side there is also Eskarisäbä (Preschool-floorball) for 5-6 year olds. Who can star their own hobby. For Eskarisäbä we have four different groups (places and times) for children. We try to offer easy access for families to attend the groups. After Eskarisäbä there comes two paths for different approachies. You can do hobbygroup floorball once a week without Floorball Federations games or you can start in the team and attend for more. These paths are going on until age of 15 and you can change paths in different situations in life. For 18-years old and older hobbyists there is also "Kuntosäbä". They play once or twice a week, depending on adults own schedules and interest but you can choose both or one time per week.

Those who want help our teams and players to succeed better we have opportunities for people who dont want to play for themselves. Different voluntaryroles in our club can example be teamleader, coach, matchofficial, social media-caretaker, materialkeeper or eventmanager.
